I was born and raised in Lee County and having never lived anywhere else, what I enjoy most is being active and present in my community. When I’m not working in the office, I am out in the community every day meeting with small business owners, not-for-profit organizations and local citizens who just want to be heard. My summer schedule has included some travel outside of the County to attend work conferences focused on continued education and discussions on transportation and infrastructure, economic recovery, water quality, and environmental policy, to name a few. I always look forward to hearing and learning from fellow officials and renowned experts from the local, state and federal levels.
Speaking of transportation, road improvements continue to progress! By now you have noticed the sidewalk and curb improvement work taking place on Homestead Road South at Pinewood Boulevard, which will continue through mid-late August. Lee County Department of Transportation (DOT) and hired contractor will also be paving, installing pavement marking, and turning on a new traffic signal at Lee Boulevard and Lee Street, which is scheduled for completion later this month. Repaving continues on various roadways throughout Lehigh with many more to come. The County remains committed to road resurfacing improvements at a cost of $5 million per year. For more information on this program or a particular roadway that needs attention, please call (239) 533-9305 or email paving@leegov.com.
County business never slows down as the next few months will be focused on our budget preparations for the Fiscal Year 2021-2022. Even though property values throughout Lee County have increased, I look forward to supporting a reduction in your property taxes and fees, while at the same time increasing County services and funding (not defunding) our brave men and women in Law Enforcement. It is not an easy task, but I remain committed to my position since taking office in 2012-lower taxes and a better, improved quality of life for the safety and well-being of our community!
My staff and I are always ready to help address any questions or concerns you may have. Please feel free to call my office at (239) 533-2227 or email dist2@leegov.com. As always, I am proud to serve as your County Commissioner!
